Where Good Things Happen!

Mena is located in the west central portion of Arkansas, nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with cascading streams, bass-filled lakes and a million and a half acres of pristine forests.

Visit a restored 1920′s Kansas City Railroad Depot, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses the Mena/Polk County Chamber of Commerce, a history museum and railroad displays and memorabilia. Antique shopping is a favorite pastime in and around Mena with everything from “elegant junk” to vintage treasures. You may want to take in a play at the Ouachita Little Theatre. The city plays host to a number of annual events including Lum and Abner Days based on the radio personalities of the 1930′s and 1940′s who were from Mena and the Annual Rod Run where you’ll view some of the nation’s finest renovations. On a clear day, you can see two states (Arkansas and Oklahoma) from the 58-foot-high Rich Mountain Fire Tower.

The surrounding magnificent mountains and rivers offer unlimited outdoor recreational opportunities including hunting, canoeing, rafting and kayaking the wild and rugged Ouachita and Cossatot Rivers featuring Class III, IV and V rapids; or hiking 75 miles of trails ranging from gentle to challenging. Throughout the 1.5 million acre Ouachita National Forest there are 32 recreational areas for you to enjoy. You can catch smallmouth bass in the Fourche La Fave River near “Y” City. Perched atop rugged Rich Mountain nearly 3,000 feet above sea level, the Queen Wilhelmina State Park sits majestically and offers guest rooms, private meeting rooms and a restaurant. The park has camping, a miniature railroad, miniature golf, petting zoo and hiking trails. From Mena to Talihina, Oklahoma you can wind 54 miles on the National Forest Scenic Byway, Talimena Scenic Drive. It offers breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding countryside from peaks of nearly 3,000 feet.
